A Guide to Green Martian Moose

Description

I created this species years ago when I was a teenager... they never really went anywhere but I haven't drawn them in years! Now I'm rectifying that. :D

Meet the Green Martian Moose!
They were found in an alien spacecraft that crash-landed on the planet in the first half of the 20th century. From what they could gather from the read-outs on the ship, it was apparently an unmanned vessel carrying exotic animals to a faraway zoo.

The creatures were quarantined and studied for a long time. They are not actually moose, nor do they come from Mars- their common name was given to them after a news reporter's headline ("Holy Green Martian Moose! Alien Life Discovered").

These creatures are small and peaceful and live in groups of 4-10 individuals. They subsist mainly on fruits and leaves, and may also eat insects to round out their diet. They have no teeth, they just lip things and swallow them whole. Their gizzards grind up the rest.

They have no reproductive systems like we know it, they create offspring through budding. All Green Martian Moose are genetically identical.
Because of this, they are very in-tune with the other's feelings, and have a way of communicating among their own group that is almost telepathic. They become very depressed and listless when separated from their group.

Green Martian Moose communicate verbally too, through a series of squeaks, clicks, grunts, and squeals. It isn't structured quite like a language, but it is fairly easy to deduce the intent behind the noises based on context. They are also known to sing in groups, which strengthens their family bond.

They are quite clever and can manipulate objects with their flexible hooves. They can also swallow air to inflate their rubbery bodies to frighten or inconvenience predators.

Nowadays the Green Martian Moose are living in zoos around the world, and some have even become pets under special circumstances. They get along with anthros quite well if they are treated well.
